Family LOVE

Boaz and Ruth

(lesson 2 of 2 week 1)

read the Book of Ruth

The Book of Ruth contains another “case study” of family love. In contrast to the dysfunctional family dynamics of Isaac and Rebekah, Naomi’s relationship with her daughter-in-law Ruth reveals a depth of affection and degree of sacrifice seldom seen between blood relatives, much less between  in-laws.

To what blessings did Boaz and Ruth love lead? How has this affected you and your family? (read Ruth 4:17-22 and Matthew 1:5)

This week we are focusing on family love. Next week we will study more about the way of love; erotic love, friendship love and love for God.

  1. OK Naomi! How can you say that the Lord's hand has gone out against you!? (Ruth 1:13b) don't you know that the God you serve is the God of love, compassion and forgiveness? Again I need to stop myself and realize that I'm not just observing Naomi's life but that I can learn that this is one of Gos's example's that through Naomi's pain, God was not only faithful to her and blessed her to be a great great grandmother of King David but that He is teaching me a message of hope and that through it all God was faithful and just by shinning his love through Ruth in order that Naomi would not lose hope.
God is our example of family love in these last two lessons of love. God is our source for loving our family when we feel that we can't.
If you feel unloving or unable to love your family, instead of walking away or hiding from them emotionally or physically, go to God and ask him to love you so that you could be an example of Ruth to shine God's love to your family.

    1. Oops! This is one of God's examples (not Gos's)
