After
reading Act 16 what do we learn about what kind of person Lydia was and what
part did Paul have in helping Lydia?
What is your
relationship with God? Do you just know about Him? Are you intimately
acquainted with His Son, Jesus? Would you like to know Him better? What would
help you do that? What part do other people have in helping you fill that need?
Or, what part can you have in helping others get to know Jesus better?

Why
does God give us opportunities to share? God gave Lydia an abundance that would
last eternity by opening her heart to the Gospel message. He also gave her
willing eagerness to share the abundance of material possessions.
Like Lydia, we need the
abundant forgiving Love of Christ before we have any strength or willingness to
use other areas of abundance to serve the Lord. The good news is that God does
not wait for us to come to Him or to become perfect in sharing our possessions,
time, or talents. He comes to us; brings us to repentance for our selfish
hoarding of His abundance; forgives us completely for the sake of Jesus’
suffering, death and resurrection; and makes us new!
Lydia reminds me of the Proverbs 31 woman. She definitely was blessed with an abundance of time to worship God, a successful business in order to provide for her household and loyalty of her people.
ReplyDeletePaul was a disciple of Jesus, sent to preach the Gospel message to all the nations. Matthew 28:18-20, Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
He has called us!
2 Chronicles 7:14, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Psalm 66:16, Come and Listen, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.
The Lord opened Lydia’s heart to the Gospel message and because of her obedience to the Lord she was baptized along with her household. (Act 16:14b,15)
We, like Lydia strive to be the best Proverbs 31 women we can be. I pray that we are a positive influence to others as Lydia was. For when the time came for her to listen to the Gospel message she not only acted in obedience, she also influence those in her household to be obedient to God’s message as well.
Psalm 66:20, Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love form me!
Wow, what an abundance the Lord will give us!

I love how our Heavenly Father clears the path for obedience by the instructions of His Word, there is no doubt that when we are called to wait on Him our Lord is Just and Faithful in all things. Great study today , Blessing to all PK
